Bona

Bona is one of the leading Waterbased products in Europe and across the globe. We predominantly use Bona Traffic, its a two pack coating with commercial strength. Its non-yellowing, and has extremely low VO’s (no fumes).

Loba

Loba is the other leading waterbased product from Europe. This is the Germans version of our Swedish friend above. Loba has a fantastic wide range, including its alcohol based sealer for trickier timbers, as well as its Invisible finish.

Invisible

Invisible is a Loba product, so has all the perks of waterbased finish. This product keeps the timber looking completely raw. An amazing and unique finish.

Fiddes

Fiddes is a hardwax oil product we use. This product gives a very natural finish, and is great on stairs with its non-slip rating.

Polycure

Polycure is a completely Australian owned based company. They have a huge range of products from Gloss solvents to waterbased finishes, as well as modified oils.

Handleys

Handleys is a New Zealand based company. We particularly like their Lo-Sheen and satin polyurethanes. We also highly recommend their sports oil for commercial areas.

Water based vs Solvent Coatings

This is a frequently asked question.

Durability: We use commercial strentgh waterbased finishes, so durability is equal between the two. If floors are taken care of, you can get 10-20 years out of a coating.

Natural Colour: Waterbased finishes are non-yellowing. But the timber underneath the coating can change colour. Light coloured timbers will go orange with a solvent finish, so it is better to use a waterbased coating, to keep a more natural finish over time. The darker timbers can go pale when using a waterbased finish, so we recommend either an alcohol sealer followed by waterbase or use a solvent based finish throughout.

Fumes: The waterbase finish has extremely low fumes, and it is safe to be home while we coat, we recommend moving out for solvent based finishes.

Price: The solvent based finishes are more affordable. While there are cheaper waterbased options, the durability of those products is not up to our standard, and we don’t offer them.
